The prestigious Stoke Town Hall, built in an age of elegance reflects the individual characteristic décor and boasts a beautiful hall and meeting rooms. It is the largest town hall within the city, dating back to 1834. The building has a unique history, once home to Stoke-upon-Trent’s market, police station, Magistrates Court, council chambers and offices. It even housed a School of Design and private members club, a favourite venue of the Dukes of Sutherland.
Originally designed by Henry Ward, the Town Hall was extended after the federation of the six towns in 1910 on the orders of one of the last Mayors of Stoke-upon-Trent, Alderman Geen. The 1910 extension saw the construction of the magnificent Kings Hall and the enlarged council chamber along with the committee rooms. This extension cemented the building’s future as the civic home of the city, and still houses council meetings and civic events today.
The building is ideally located in the centre of Stoke Town, located within easy walking distance from Stoke railway station; and placed next to the A500 linking juntions 15 & 16 of the M6 motorway with ample parking available next to the building at Kingsway.
